A Dutch-Inspired Styled Photoshoot
Earlier this summer, Honeysuckle Hollow collaborated with an amazing northwest Iowa based photographer, Jenni Ochsner of Jenni O Photography, to create a summer styled wedding shoot. The vision was Dutch-inspired, including lots of blues, Delft patterns, and tulips (of course!). These photoshoots are a lot of work to coordinate, but, as you'll see, so very worth it in the end.
When it came to choosing flowers, I looked to Dutch Masters paintings for inspiration. These paintings use shadow and light, along with contrasting colors to create a dramatic effect. They often incorporate fruit and other natural, whimsical items into their paintings for interest and a lush, luxuriant feel. Here is one of these paintings that incorporates yellows and blues with other bright colors thrown in for interest. Based on this, we used tulips, roses, iris, delphinium, chamomile, forget-me-nots, nigella, and other fun items. We also used locally grown lilies to pull in the cream of the bridal gown into the bridal bouquet.
We were lucky to have some beautiful friends (and children) agree to model, and we reached out to various vendors in northwest Iowa to join us in this collaboration. The result was a vibrant, stunning Dutch-inspired (and very regional) Photoshoot.
Many thanks to the phenomenal Jenni O Photography for these spectacular images!
There was so much involved in this photoshoot, and many contributors! Thank you to everyone who participated in this beautiful day!
